Pimlico District Heating Undertaking (PDHU)

BSW are working with Westminster City Council on the UK’s first district heating scheme, established back in 1950. PDHU was originally supplied with waste heat from Battersea Power Station and serves 3,256 properties and 3no schools in the local community. It still provides sustainable energy to the community today without the powerplant with heat and electricity now provided using large CHP units.

We were appointed to carry out Mechanical & Electrical upgrade works to 42 satellite plant rooms over a period of 4 years. Specific works consisted of:

• Supply and Installation Temporary Packaged Plate Heat Exchangers.
• Demolition Works.
• Design
• Mechanical & Electrical Strip out Works.
• Mechanical & Electrical Installation of 72no new HRS Calorifiers and associated controls
• Flushing & Chemical Dosing.
• Commissioning & O&M’s
